Luminous glass beads are highly popular decorative items. They are manufactured by melting glass paste and luminous powder raw materials in large furnaces, followed by mechanical cutting. This type of glass bead can be customized for various functional applications.
Luminous glass beads are categorized into:
Crystal curtain beads
Crystal lighting balls
Crystal punched beads (with holes)
Glass light balls (holeless)
Glass beads made with luminous powder are typically transparent and colored. These glass beads and crystal beads exhibit a premium, crystalline appearance and can be used for furniture decoration, lighting accessories, curtain embellishments, and more. As decorative elements, they are increasingly favored by consumers.
How is luminous powder incorporated into glass beads?
Mixing and heating: Combine luminous powder and glass paste in the specified ratio. Place the mixture in a high-temperature crucible within an electric furnace for firing.
Firing process: Heat at 133°C for 50 minutes. Manually remove impurities with inadequate coloration. Transfer the fired luminous glass beads to a ball mill for fine grinding into powder. Soak the powder in water for precipitation.
Drying: Drain the water and dry the powdered material in a drying oven.
Key properties of luminous powder:
Requires no power source: Automatically absorbs any light source and emits light in darkness.
Features high brightness and long afterglow duration: After absorbing light for 5–20 minutes (under sunlight or artificial light), it effectively glows for 6–15 hours.
Excellent light resistance, aging resistance, and chemical stability.
Service life exceeding 15 years.
